Chandu The Magician │ Bela Lugosi

"Chandu The Magician" did not start out as a movie series.  From 1932 to 1933 it ran as a radio drama that was written by Harry A. Earnshaw, Vera M. Oldham, and R. R. Morgan.  The Fox motion picture company obtained the rights to the Chandu character hoping that a film version would appeal to a ready-made audience.  Edmund Lowe played the part of Chandu originally, in "Chandu The Magician (1932),  and Bela Lugosi was the evil Roxor.  In 1934 Chandu returned as a twelve part serial, "The Return of Chandu".  The difference this time was that Bela Lugosi played the principal role of Chandu.  As far as serials go, "The Return Of Chandu" is fantastic.  It is probably one of the best serials ever made.  "The Return Of Chandu" is filled with mystery, romance and the charm of the exotic East.  Please click on the video widget below to watch the first chapter of this wonderful serial.  Safe journeys to all the fans of Chandu The Magician, wherever you may be.
